How To Make A Website
If you have been trying to make a website but just didn’t know where to start then you are in the right place. This blog will teach you how to make your own website in just 60 minutes. I am going to shrink it down to only three steps just to make it even easier. Let’s begin.
The first step to building your own website is to choose what platform your site is going to be built on. You need to be able to know where you stand with understanding your building ability because some platforms require you to know stuff about HTML or other coding. This means that some may not be for you because you aren’t there yet in the website building world but that is ok because there are many options to choose from.
The three most popular platforms are WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla and after reading this, hopefully you have a better understanding of each and you can decide which one is best for you. If you are a beginner, WordPress is probably the best option for you. About 50% of websites are run on WordPress because it is easy, helpful and best of all it’s free. Drupal is also free and about 18% of websites are run on them and about 7% run on Joomla. Out of all of these however, WordPress is the most acclaimed but in the end it is your choice to choose which platform works best with you and your website.
Step two is to get a domain and web hosting in order to give your website a name and a home. Hosting is about $3-$5 per month which may seem pricey but it is well worth it. If you really want to make a good website then you should get your own hosting and domain name. Most web designers choose to use BlueHost for web hosting. It is only $2.95 per month (36 months sign up) + a FREE DOMAIN NAME worth $15. With this $2.95 a month, you can get a free domain name, fast, high quality and reliable web hosting, free site builder, one-click WordPress installer, and 24/7 support; I would say that is a lot for less than $3 a month.
If you are wondering what type of domain name you should choose, I have three main tips for you. These include making it catchy, unique, and easy to remember. If you follow these steps, than people will remember your website and come back to it because they remember the domain name. If you already have a domain name then just delete everything you just read in step two from your brain and skip over to step 3.
The last step is to choose a theme for your website and make the magic come alive. It’s finally time to make your site look professional and just like you want it to look and don’t worry, this step is the easiest step out of all of them.
If you are using WordPress, it automatically installs a basic theme just for you to get started. The theme that they choose for you is called Twenty Fifteen and it is very clean and simple but most people want to make their website their own and choose their own theme. If you do want to make it your own WordPress has access to thousands of themes that will make your website look great. If you don’t want to spend money on a theme, there are many free theme options on WordPress. You can access these via the “Appearance” section on the left of the dashboard. By clicking “Appearances” then “Themes” it will take you to the main page for WordPress free themes section. However, if you’re looking for something a bit more professional, than premium themes might be what you’re looking for and WordPress and other platforms have a lot of these options as well.
If you follow all of these steps then you will have a fully functional and professional website up and running. Many people say that creating a website is very challenging and a long process, however there are ways to make it simple, so simple that you don’t need a web developer and following these steps is the way to do it. Hopefully this blog helped you set up a fantastic website for you or your business.
